ok…last one 4 real…
So Marcus and the Free Kicks has died.
But…Timothy and the Sea has been born.
It’s better this way. I like being the Sea more than Marcus. And Tim likes being Timothy.

So…things always change…that’s the one thing Buddha said we could be certain of. God knows I’ve experienced that recently…in ways BIG and small.
Well, when I got to Brasil, I had a feeling the sandals idea was going to change. Then my uncle told me that he has a friend who opened a school in a favela in Sao Paulo, and he thought I should see it.
We went, and the place was deep. As we climbed higher and higher up the makeshift, thin stairwells that scale favelas and connect all the residents, we went from classroom to classroom seeing groups of happy smiling children having fun. And the higher we went, the smaller they got, till at the top of the favela, with the best views of the city, were dozens of beautiful 6 month olds sleeping.
This was were the money was suppoused to go. I knew it. They had school and daycare for the residents of the favela for free, from birth to 18. They have art classes, music classes, everything we stand for…even geometry for Tim.
All the music and art is done by volunteers and they explained to me how they are trying to set up an official music school with a paid teacher and instruments for all to use, etc…
So this is were the money went and God Willing, every month they will get a little more from me.
Peace and love to all.

So, even though Marcus and the Free Kicks are over, I am going to continue with the social action I was planning earlier. I leave for Brasil on friday, and will be giving the donated sandals to kids in either Sao Paulo or Campinas, Brasil. We have agreed to give 100% percent of the money we made to this cause, and Tim and I are contributing some of our own money as well.
I would like to make a call to anyone who would like to make a donation to this cause. The money will go 100% towards sandals, and I will be sure to make the last post here when I get back with photos and/or video of the donation.
Please email marcusweakley@gmail.com right away if you would like to make a donation. I will respond as soon as possible so that your money can be included.
Thank you so much. All the kids and families thank you too. We can change the world, one moment, one gesture, at a time.

Download Short documentary about Marcus and the Free Kicks by Ian Hopps, Javier Zavala, Gage Vasquez, and Russell Medina. Includes the making of the song, “Nunca Mais”.

This is the music video for the new song we posted recently, Nunca Mais.
The extremely multi-talented Ian Hopps put on his directing shoes for this one, and the result speaks for itself. It is the recording process of the song filmed, edited and directed by Mr. Hopps.
I am thankful that we are surrounded by such talented artists.

As the days pass it has become more and more apparent to me that the best thing I can do in my life is to seize every opportunity, in every aspect of my life, to make the world a better place. Years ago I had this idea of buying a lot of sandals and passing them out to the street kids in Rio de Janeiro that have no shoes. Due to financial limitations and my own mental limitations I never made it happen.
Now I know about TOMS shoes. They work on a one-for-one model. They donate a pair of their amazing shoes to a child in need in South Africa or Argentina for every pair you buy. They have inspired me to make a difference.
We can’t succeed individually unless everyone succeeds. If there are people starving, people suffering, people under oppression, we all suffer. This becomes more and more apparent with every passing year, as the world grows smaller through technology and new forms of communication.
We either rise together, or we will fall together.
So, for every one of our albums that are purchased on iTunes or eventually, in CD format, we will donate 50% of the money we make to purchasing sandals for kids in the favelas of Rio.
I will purchase the sandals myself and pass them out myself when I take my next trip to Brasil in April. I will post pictures, and hopefully video, of that after the trip.
Thank you to TOMS shoes for the inspiration and for the 10,000’s of shoes you have already given to children in need. Please check out their site, buy some of their shoes, and make a difference. Let’s all work together and find ways to “Be the Change we Wish to See in the World”.
Let’s LOVE MORE.

Hello everyone.
I am filled with a deep joy and satisfaction writing this post.
Months of hard work and dedication by Tim and I has yielded our first full-length album, “I Am Awake.” now available on iTunes. This is a completely organic creation, made by Tim and I, mixed, mastered, recorded and released by us, and it is the greatest labor of love of my life. I am honored to be writing this, and I thank you for your support and interest in our music.
We named our album after the response the Buddha gave to one of his disciples who asked him who he was, was he a god, a prophet, a man, a teacher? The Buddha simply responded, “I Am Awake.”.
Much love and peace to all,
Marcus
